“In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.”
– II Timothy 2:9-10
As most of you know, I pretty much only wear skirts and dresses, and I’m completely fine with that. I actually love it, and I’m not kidding. With dressing like this, I’ve discovered a sense of style that honestly compliments me very well, and it pleases God, so that’s just another plus. I love it! I’ve found myself in ways that you wouldn’t imagine, just by switching my life style up after I got saved, and transitioning over to modesty. I have uniquely found freedom in dressing modestly, and I’m sure most of us can relate. It is truly a grand essence to classy, and lets the world know that what’s beautiful should always more on what’s within, than what’s on the outward. I’d encourage you beautiful girls, to try modesty out, and let the world know that from the inside you’re GOLDEN and VIRTUOUS. What’s on the inside is what truly matters.
When I first transitioned over to Modesty, I found that a lot of the modest apparel would be completely out of my price range. I mean, I was determined to support a cute modest boutique, but I just could risk paying $70-100 for a skirt. I thought, “I might as well, just start learning how to sew myself.” But I realized, I didn’t have to do all of that, so I started going to some of my favorite stores, that I’ve always shopped in, but this time, I’d just get long dresses and beautiful skirts. So that, I did. Since a lot of people ask me where I get my skirts from, I’m going to share with you a list of a few of my favorite places, that you’re all pretty much familiar of.
(By the way, I get all of my dresses and skirts for under $15)
This is probably one of my favorites, because I get all of my skirts and dresses for $10 and under. Since it’s a store where people practically donate their clothes, I’ve gotten luckily and have found great steals from a pair of Nine West heels for $8 and a savvy pair of H&M heels for $10. I love Plato’s Closet.
Another one of my all time favorites, where I find myself getting just about everything, from $6 Paris Hilton perfumes, to shoes, to AMAZING dresses and skirts around $15.
3. Thrift Stores
Just about every thrift store has an abundance of clothes that you can find, and they usually always are packed with unique modest apparel that will do you justice. Find one near you, and I promise it will not disappoint. I’ve been to thrift stores near me, that sell modest apparel, and beautifully made skirts for about $2. It really does pay off. Even try donation centers like Goodwill, they have a great selection of skirts and dresses to choose from that you’ll love.
