How to feel Beautiful Naturally

For years, I just could never seem to grasp the beauty of my face in it’s natural state without a single drop of makeup. I just couldn’t, no matter how many good hair days I had, no matter how many days my skin seemed to actually be clear for once, no matter how many nights I actually got some good rest, and my eye bags seemed to appear as smooth as a baby’s skin. I just couldn’t grab hold of the underlining fact that there was beauty underneath all of those products, underneath all of that every morning 2 hour job I would take on to simply make up my face. But what’s the beauty in acne anyways? What’s the beauty in bags being so heavy your eyes get a workout everyday by lifting them? What’s the beauty in the “brace face” or the “you need braces face”? What’s the beauty in something that you were simply born with and you just can’t seem to make amends with, but somehow everyone who comes across you can. What’s the beauty in your body not being shaped like others? What’s the beauty in your natural hair texture that not everyone appreciates? Is it really that much of a secret?

The beauty is that you are you, a strong, brave, amazing, beautiful human being, that no one can ever be or compare themselves to. The beauty is that it’s not everyone’s job to appreciate the beautiful being God has intentionally, wonderfully, and perfectly made you to be. The beauty is that there have been times where God has placed bitter beings in your life to be cruel, for you to war them with prayer, with love, with gentleness, with a pure heart. God has placed bitter beings in your life for you to let them know that they are beautiful too, that everything is going to be just fine.

The beauty is that your scars are not your baggage, they are your treasure, sprinkled in gold. If it wasn’t for your scars, you wouldn’t have found your treasure. I want you to know that you are beautiful, I don’t want to sound cliche, but I want you to make it your job to wake up and tell yourself this every single morning when you look in the mirror. I don’t want you to just say it, I want you to feel it, to be it, to walk in it, to believe it. We minimize our faith when we doubt that God wonderfully made us Beautiful, that somehow when God was mending us together, something went wrong. It’s not that anything we went wrong, we went wrong when we doubted our God and his everlasting creative greatness.

My friend, erase the illusion that in order to feel beautiful, you need a covered face, that you need to be a full package just to feel good about yourself. The God in you is the full package, your beautiful face, smile, kind words and compassion for others is the beauty that lies in you…… Beautiful.

 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” – Psalms 139:14

Whose adorning let it not be that outward [adorning] of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

4 But [let it be] the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, [even the ornament] of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

Song of Solomon 4:7 – Thou [art] all fair, my love; [there is] no spot in thee.

1 Timothy 2:9 – In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

Philippians 4:8 – Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.
