It’s important for us to wholeheartedly seek an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ every single day. Even if you already have a relationship with Him, you’re never too close to Him, there’s always more that you can do for Him, and there’s always more that you can get to know about Him. Once you get married, do you stop trying to get to know your partner even more just because your married? Of course not! In fact, you learn something new about your partner everyday, but it’s because you genuinely want to. The both of you hunger to keep the spark going, you want to feel deeply in love each day, even on days you can’t seem to stand each other, you still stand.. together.
The same applies to our relationship and intimacy with God. You want to feel deeply in love with him every day, even when you don’t necessarily understand what’s going on in your life, or what it is exactly that he’s doing. He wants you to trust him, and you should. Getting closer to God means talking to Him every day through prayer, giving to others, fasting, obedience, and remaining faithful. Now, I know that many of us work and live our busy adult lives and argue that we don’t have the time, or God will understand, I’m human. But just for a second, imagine if God himself took a vacation, imagine if God didn’t have the time for us.. Didn’t think of it that way did you? For a while, I didn’t either, but now I do.
Through prayer each day we water our ‘intimacy’ plant with God, once we stop watering our plant, we ourselves go into dehydration mode, not just our plants. The Bible tells us that The eyes of the Lord are in every place, be holding the evil and the good (Proverbs 15:3). You aren’t alone in this and you weren’t from the beginning. God watches your every move, may every move you make be worth while and pleasing unto him. The only thing holding you back is (you may be surprised) you. We ourselves can be our biggest enemies, our own worst critics. Yes, Satan tempts us and tries our faith, in fact he does it everyday. But what Satan can’t do is make us do anything, we ultimately do it ourselves. The Bible says that if we resist the devil, he will flee from us (James 4:7). By committing ourselves to prayer each day, we will finally have the deep intimacy with our mighty God like never before, a real love that’s like no other. Don’t just make God first, make him your everything. Bring him back into your dinner table, your home, your workplace, and school.
“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
