The Importance of Kindness

“Pleasant words are as an honey comb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.” – Proverbs 16:24

It is so important for us to allow God’s  love, forgiveness, and kindness to dwell in us, so that we can manifest the ability to wholeheartedly give it to others, even to those who may not necessarily be our favorite. We as Christians even can find ourselves in sticky like honey situations at times that seem merely impossible to get ourselves out of. When in those situations, I find myself sometimes asking God, Is this a test? Or Please God, give me the right things to say, help me to respond in your way and your way only. So yeah, it can get a bit tough, I mean I almost feel like a fly caught in a spider web, just waiting to be indulged in negativity, or even anger. I’ve been the fly before, at war with my tongue, in hopes that nothing dangerous would come out of my mouth to spew at others. Laying there helplessly asking God to give me the strength to get out of such a situation. My mouth happens to be the web since we’re still stuck on the spider scenario here.

Luckily, God has given me the strength and wisdom on how to respond to such situations; and why it is so important to show love, even towards our enemies. As you all know, none of us came unto God as saints, we each came as sinners. We came unto him with an open case of filthy baggage. Yes we came as sinners who were full of repentence and ready to turn our lives around, but we came solely as sinners. If this wasn’t the case, Jesus wouldn’t have sacrificed his life for us. Because it is in him that we are forgiven. Think about the person you were before you allowed God to come into your life and transform you into his liking. Now, I want you to think about everything God has forgiven you for, even still to this day. Got it yet?

Forgiveness is very much intertwined with kindness. God has forgiven us for so many things. I honestly cannot even the number the amount of things he has forgiven me for, but he has forgiven me. He has forgiven you. We as humans have somehow inherited this tendency to convince ourselves that we’re unable to forgive certain people. In order for you to move closer with God, you must let it go completely. Kindness dwells within love, and in his love dwells forgiveness.

Matthew 6:14 “For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you.”

Psalms 117:2 “For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the Lord ensure that for ever. Praise ye the Lord.”

Luke 6:35 “But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the highest: for he is kind unto the I thankful and evil.”

There is a saying that says, “Sometimes, you are a person’s only walking bible.”  We must be to other’s a piece of God himself. People around the world, even in your own community need someone’s undivided attention and love. They need to lay witness to someone who was once a mess and was transformed into a masterpiece. A masterpiece painted by the master himself, our God. God is love. Always remember that there is someone that needs to see your smile on your face, that needs to hear encouraging words, that needs to hear about Jesus and his gospel of truth. God put us here to fulfill his purpose and to help others do the same. So always be Kind. In all ways. Always.

 Some verses on Kindness:

  • Proverbs 16:22 “A merry heart doe th good like a medicine: but a broken spirit driers the bones.”
  • Ephesians 4:32 “And be ye kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
  • Psalms 40:11 “Withold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let thy loving kindness and thy truth continually preserve me.”
  • Psalms 143:8 “Cause me to hear thy loving kindness in the morning; for in the do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.”

Be happy and rejoice in the Lord’s strength. May you show kindness to others. May you allow God to guide you at all times. Be happy. Rejoice. Worship. Pray. Fast. May you allow him to take away every inch of fear, anger, worries, and strongholds when it comes to walking in his love and showing his kindness. May your love and kindness make others happy, make God happy. Amen.
